Skull Shaver Pitbull vs FlexSeries Pro – Which is Best?
Two excellent head shavers that make a good comparison are the Skull Shaver Pitbull and Freebird Flexseries Pro.
The reason I believe they make a good comparison is that they both performed very well and have the right features to make a decent electric head shaver.
The Skull Shaver that is within the same price range as the FlexSeries Pro–at the moment–is the Skull Shaver Pitbull Silver Pro. Based on similar prices, I found it best to compare these together rather than the higher-priced shavers from the Skull Shaver brand.
While I will mainly focus on using the Silver Pro from the Skull Shaver range, keep in mind that the Silver Pro, Gold Pro, and Platinum Pro share more similarities than differences. The Gold and Platinum will have everything the Silver has (especially in terms of performance and shaving), plus additional features.

The YouTube video comparison I created for these head shavers might provide some additional information, and/or the visuals might help you out.

Build Quality
I would say they both share the same build quality. While they are both mostly made from plastics apart from the blades, they are solid enough to last.
I would hope to have these still good for use and running for three years or more. I have owned the Silver Pro since 2022, and it still works, but I don’t use it all the time as I am always testing new shavers.

Ergonomics and Grip
I would say the Skull Shaver has the upper hand here in terms of its patented, ergonomically friendly design. It can be held at the sides while shaving or cupped between the fingers, and when it is cupped, it really helps to shave the back of the head area.
There is no rubberized grip on the Skull Shaver, but it does not need it as the sides and underneath the shaver have grooves where the hand and fingers fit perfectly.
The FlexSeries Pro is rectangular-shaped and has a very similar shape to the Pitbull. The Flex Pro is without the grooves that the Pitbull has, and these grooves help when holding and head shaving with it. The outer area of the FlexSeries has a matte, non-slip finish and two rubberized strip sections for grip.
It took me a while to make use of the Pitbull design as I kept using it without the cupping feature. However, after a while, I found myself using the cupping feature more and really like using it now, and I find it helps me shave quicker.
The FlexSeries is a bit of a block to hold, but to be fair, as it fits in the palm and has enough grip, then that is all it really needs.

Blade System
They both have four rotary blades, and all four blades flex together when shaving along various contours. The four blades also flex independently, and we can see this when pressing each blade.
Both of the blade systems are very good and very important to me when assessing how good a head shaver is. Blade systems are a deal breaker!
A small advantage the Pitbull has is that the blades are set concave, and this seems like the best design to me (see photo below). The Pitbull already begins to hug the scalp on touch, whereas the FlexSeries needs to be pressed against the surface. So, the Pitbull blades spread out when placed on a surface, and the FlexSeries become concave (not sure if that makes sense without a visual).
The most important thing for the blade system is how comfortable they are, how close the blades stay close to the scalp without overlap, how efficient they shave, and how close the shave is. That’s all covered in the shaving experience section below.

Battery and Runtime
The Flex Pro provides 90 minutes of runtime, while the Pitbull Silver provides 60 minutes. The Pitbull Gold and Platinum both provide 90 minutes of runtime, but they are well above the cost of a FlexSeries Pro.
The Silver has a 600 mAh while the FlexSeries has a higher 800 mAh lithium-ion battery.
The Silver loses that battle. However, 60-minutes of runtime is fine and not a deal breaker in this comparison.

Indicator Lights
Of course, indicator lights are an additional bonus feature that is nice to have but not as important as other features I have compared so far.
The Silver Pro has a simple battery light indicator. It stays green when it has enough charge, then turns red and starts flashing when the battery becomes low. When it is plugged in, the indicator will remain red and then turn green when it’s fully charged.
The Flex Pro, however, has three lights that reduce to provide us an idea of what runtime the battery has left. Three lights indicate 100% or less, two lights 66% or less, and one light indicates 33% or less runtime. The three dotted lights flash when the shaver is on charge.
The Flex Pro has the advantage in this section, and if a buyer wants better indicators than the Silver Pro, they can go for the Gold Pro, which has a numerical percentage charge indicator.

Accessories
I never let accessories make any difference in my choice of head shaver and preference. However, I should mention them.
The FlexSeries comes in a kit, and this kit contains attachments. The most useful I found were the nose and ear trimmer. The hair trimmer is not very good quality, but it is okay for trimming my beard but too small for hair trimming.
I call these kits gimmicky more than anything, and I just want the shaver and no diversions about kits that claim to do everything under the sun (when they clearly don’t, at least not very well, anyway).
The Silver Pro is straightforward and comes with a small cleaning brush and a USB charging cord with a plug.
The effort was made to provide the FlexSeries with accessories, and it does not even come with a plug for the cord (sold separately). The USB cord supplied can be used with mobile phone chargers or even plugged into the laptop, though.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Both shavers are equally easy to clean, and they both also have hair collection chambers, which are useful for collecting shaving debris (visible when removing the blade section).
They are both waterproof and can be washed under a running water tap after use.
Both also have a cog at the back of the section of the blade, and when turned, it removes a plastic section that holds the four blades, and this enables each blade to be removed. This blade removal feature can be useful for thoroughly cleaning the blades or checking for problems.
The blades, as advised by both companies, should be replaced about every 6 months. Blade longevity obviously differs depending on various factors like usage and hair type.

Cost Comparison
Since they were first introduced, both shavers have come down in price. The cost may change, but at the time of writing, the prices compare very well.
- FlexSeries Pro – Approx. $69.95 (US) or £75 (UK).
- Silver Pro – Approx. $66 (US) or £77 (UK)
Replacement Blades
- FlexSeries Pro – Approx. $30 (US) or £75 (UK).
- Silver Pro (Carver Blades*) – Approx. $25 (US) or £25 (UK)
*Skull Shavers come with different blades, and the Pitbull Silver is sold with Carver Blades. This type is aimed at users with coarse hair, so guys with sensitive skin and hair that is not coarse might not find the Carver Blades best suited for them. However, I have used both the Carver and Forte (which come with the Pitbull Gold Pro) blades, and there is not much difference between them, although the Forte blades feel slightly more comfortable.
Warranty
Both companies provide a standard one-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee if the customer is not satisfied. Freebird also provides a lifetime warranty for those who subscribe to their replacement blade subscription service (it looks good on the surface, but you need to have bought replacement blades in the last 90 days).
Both are equal really on this front with the 12 months.
I have no experience in returning my shavers (they have never broken), which means I cannot comment on whether FreeBird or Skull Shaver honors the warranty. I have seen good reports on FreeBird and a few negatives on Skull Shaver in regard to returns.
I know with Skull Shaver, we have to pay the return shipping fee, which is worth noting. FreeBird sends a pre-paid shipping label, which is much better.

Shaving Experiences
I have shaved many times with both shavers, and I have made a few side-by-side comparisons. On YouTube, I created a video for the FlexSeries Pro vs. Skull Shaver Pitbull. I did use the Platinum in that video, though, which has the Forte blades rather than the Silver Pro Carver blades.
Both shavers give a very comfortable head shave, and both have a good enough blade system that allows the blade section to stay close to the scalp along all the various contours.
They both shave just as quickly as each other, although the added benefit of the Skull shaver cupping design is that it enables me to maneuver around the back and side areas faster than the Flex Pro.
I have shaved wet with shaving cream with both shavers and never found much improvement. They are useful when used wet with lubricant, though, when first using them, as using the lubricant (i.e., shaving cream or foam) can prevent the back of the neck from flaring until the skin adjusts to the new shaver blades.
The end result mostly felt like the same closeness. Still, on the last head shave that I did (i.e., video of the Skull Shaver vs Flex Pro), the Skull Shaver felt slightly closer.
Final Thoughts – Which Is Best?
I am happy with both of the shavers. They both do a great job compared to others I have used!
I still lean toward the Skull Shaver for its ergonomically friendly design, and it just tips over being slightly better in other areas. The FlexSeries Pro is a pretty close second, though!
For you guys that came here unsure about which is best–it is going to be about what features suit you best–or it could be that what looks like better warranty terms offered by Freebird swing it. It’s your call now!
You cannot go wrong (with the right price on your side) with the FlexSeries Pro or Skull Shaver Pitbull Silver Pro.
