Philips Head Shaver Pro 7000 Series Review – The Smart Buy Of The Lineup?

Philips disturbed the head shaving market a bit in 2025 by introducing three Head Shaver Pro models. The 7000 Series (reviewed now) sits right in the center of the lineup.

While the Philips Head Shaver Pro 7000 Series shares the same core shaving technology and motor as its siblings, it offers a sweet spot of upgraded battery life and accessories that the 5000 lacks, without the higher price tag of the 9000.

As with all my reviews, this isn’t based on specs alone. I’ve shaved with it multiple times, used it both dry and wet, cleaned it fully (including dismantling the cutters), and shaved my head on camera so I could properly show how it performs.

For 2026 and onwards, I am really pleased to announce the inclusion of the Philips Head Shaver Pro models, including the 7000 Series, in the Best Head Shavers Roundup For The Year. You’ll see why in this review!

The 7000 Series follows the “palm-held” design language that has become the standard for dedicated head shavers.

Design and Ergonomics

The Pro 7000 Series is slightly bulkier and taller than some other head shavers I’ve used, such as the Freebird FlexSeries or the Remington models. However, that extra height is intentional and needed for what I shall mention next—the cupping design.

The design is similar to the Skull Shaver brand of head shavers in that it allows for holding and shaving with a cupping method (see next video clip), which I find extremely useful for:

  • The back of the head
  • Around the sides
  • Applying controlled pressure

There are pros and cons here:

  • Smaller shavers feel more compact to hold in the hand, like a Remington Balder Pro (RX5)
  • Taller designs like this give better control in the cupping position

Personally, I find the Philips design practical once you get used to it, and since I have been using the Skull Shaver brand of shavers for years and have become accustomed to using the cupping method, I appreciate this feature on the Philips.

The top section features a matte finish with textured lines (see next video clip). It provides decent grip, though I would have preferred a fully rubberized surface for a better, firmer grip.

Blades and Head Section

The shaver head itself flexes (360-D Flexing Head), which helps it follow the contours of the scalp. This is most noticeable when using the standard palm grip.

Each cutter:

  • Flexes with all other heads
  • Presses inward under pressure

This next video clip shows how they flex.

I get good maintenance of skin contact while shaving, and it deals with shaving over my odd lump of skull (apparently called an Inion) at the back of my head very well.

Hair Collection Chamber

We can pop the head open with a simple notch shown on the side of the shaver head, as shown in the next video clip. Inside is a chamber that catches most of your hair clippings, which keeps the mess to a minimum.

I found the chamber collects a decent amount of debris (not all of it) and makes it easier to clean.

Battery, Charging, LEDs, and Travel Lock

This is where the 7000 Series pulls ahead of the base 5000 model; we get an extra 30 minutes of runtime.

  • 90-Minute Runtime: You get an hour and a half of shaving time, which is plenty for a couple of weeks of daily shaves.
  • Charging: It takes about 60 minutes for a full charge, which is about right in my experience.
  • The LED Indicator: This is a bit of a letdown. You only get a single indicator light that tells you when the battery is low. If you want a percentage display or segmented bars, you have to upgrade to the 9000 Series. I do think Philips could have done better with the LED charge left indicator, but it is not a deal breaker.
  • USB-A Connectivity: It uses a proprietary Philips connector to a USB-A cable. Note that Philips does not include a wall adapter in the box anymore, citing environmental reasons. You’ll need to use your own phone adapter.

It also has a handy travel lock feature, which many shavers now have. We have to hold the power button for 3 seconds to activate the travel lock and then hold it again for 3 seconds to deactivate it.

Cleaning and Maintenance

If we don’t keep these shavers clean, the performance will drop off fast when it starts clogging up. I found the 7000 Series is easy to take apart and clean thoroughly.

My recommended cleaning routines:

  1. Dry Clean (After every shave): Pop the top cap off, blow and brush out the hair from the chamber and cutters.
  2. Wet Clean (After every 4th shave): After dry cleaning, put a few drops of antibacterial liquid hand soap on the cutter heads, add a small splash of water, and run the shaver for 10-15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Deep Clean (Once a month): The system allows you to easily remove the retainer in the center of the blade head by turning the cog. This lets you take out each cutter and clean them individually to remove any collected debris or ‘gunk’ that can slow the shaver down over time. I highly recommend doing this at least once a month.

Next is a clip of my wet cleaning routine.

You’ll need to replace the four-cutter head approximately every 6 months, depending on how coarse your hair is.

Philips does not mention oiling the cutters. However, I do this and recommend users to oil them with a drop or two of clipper oil on each cutter after every wet clean or wet shave.

Accessories

The boxed shape fabric travel case fits all the components inside, and it is a nice step up from the cloth bag the 5000 Series comes with. I like to keep my shavers in a storage box or case, as I own so many — it keeps them all stored well, even if I can’t take them all traveling.

The other main accessory is the rinsing station. It is a plastic square-shaped tub that has a sleeve which we slot into the tub where the shaver seats — when we need to clean it. It is useful, but of course, it is not necessary as the shaver cleans up easily enough without it.

Warranty & Reliability

The Philips Head Shaver Pro series distinguishes itself from niche competitors through its exceptional long-term reliability.

Given that head shavers are frequently prone to mechanical issues, Philips’ 2-year warranty—extendable to five years with registration—offers a level of protection smaller brands simply can’t match.

warranty

While it’s tempting to support smaller startups, the security of a global brand that honors its guarantees and returns makes this a much smarter long-term investment.

The only other brand that matches the trust I have in terms of honoring returns at no cost to us with a lengthy warranty period is Remington with its Remington Balder Pro (aka RX5) and Balder Boss (aka RX7).

Head Shaving Experiences

I put the Series 7000 through its paces, testing it on daily stubble, two-to-three-day growth, and even as a follow-up to a close trim.

As is typical for dedicated head shavers, consistency is key to performance. You’ll get the quickest and most comfortable results by shaving daily or every other day; sticking to this routine should allow for a complete, irritation-free shave in just a few minutes.

Comfort and Contours

First off, the comfort level is great. The cutters have a smooth, effortless glide that really helped me have a comfortable shaving experience.

As for the contouring, it’s impressive. Because both the head and the individual cutters flex, the blades never lose contact with your scalp—even when I was navigating the bumps at the back of my head.

Here’s a quick look at how it maintains contact with the scalp:

When I hold it in the cupping method, it moves up the sides and around the back of the head nicely. This is something I came to appreciate with the Skull Shaver brand of head shavers.

Speed and Closeness

When used daily or every other day, the shaving speed is impressive. It can handle up to three or four days of growth, though you’ll need extra time for stubborn spots. If my hair is over three days, I usually use clippers without a comb to get it as short as possible (shaving long hair does neither us nor the shaver any good).

In terms of closeness, it delivers the high-quality finish you’d expect from a dedicated rotary head shaver. It doesn’t quite achieve the “baby-butt-smooth” result of a manual razor—leaving a slight texture in some areas—which is quite normal for these head shavers (electric head shavers excel in convenience, not closeness).

Tip: I found that stretching the skin (as seen in the next video) significantly improves the closeness on areas where I get a slight fine sandpaper feel left.

If you’re transitioning from manual blades, be prepared for a slight trade-off in closeness for the sake of convenience.

Wet Shaving

With an IPX7 waterproof rating, the Series 7000 is fully submersible. I tested it with a traditional lather, and while it performs well, the benefits of a wet shave are marginal with this specific design (for me).

However, the flexibility to shave in the shower is a feature for those who prefer it.

Facial Shaving

Although some brands claim head shavers work for the face, the Series 7000’s bulky, tall design makes it poorly suited for facial grooming. Its large surface area makes it awkward to maneuver around the jawline, so I’d recommend sticking to a dedicated facial shaver for those tasks.

As a stand-in shaver when nothing else is at hand, it could be used!

Price & Replacement Costs

The Philips 7000 Series carries a suggested retail price of approximately $100, though market trends suggest it will likely settle around the $80 mark as it becomes more widely available.

For UK buyers, I’ve recently seen it listed on Amazon for £69.99, while pricing across the EU remains inconsistent for the time being.

It’s important to factor in maintenance: replacement cutter heads (HS740) retail for about $35. This is a recurring cost to keep in mind.

Because these models are new to the market, expect some price volatility. Philips will likely adjust pricing strategically across their three new head shavers to drive interest toward specific models.

Final Thoughts – Verdict (Who’s It For?)

In my opinion, the Philips Head Shaver Pro 7000 Series could be seen as the “smart” buy of the Philips Head Shaver Pro lineup. You get the 90-minute battery, better travel bag, and the rinsing station (which the 5000 lacks), but you don’t have to pay the premium for the 9000 just to get a three-segment LED screen and a set of extra blades.

Keep in mind, though, if it’s just about performance (i.e, how it shaves), and you are minding the pennies, then the cheaper 5000 Series gives us the same shave.

I could see some guys preferring a more ball-like design, a smaller body of a shaver rather than tall types like this Philips and Skull Shaver models. You won’t get the cupping style of shaving with others, though!

The Series 7000 is a reliable, comfortable, dedicated head shaver. If you prioritize skin comfort and want a shaver from a company that actually honors its warranty, this is one of the best choices.

However, if you are chasing a “mirror-smooth” finish and don’t mind a slightly more tedious shave, you might still prefer a high-end or twin foil shaver.
