Electric Shaver Comparison

Braun Series 6 vs Series 7 (latest Flex & SensoFlex models)

Braun Series 6 next to Braun Series 7 compared

A pair of very closely related electric shavers that are well worth comparing is the Braun Series 7 and Series 6.

The company Braun creates various generations of shavers within a series. While some have minor changes made, others have a complete makeover and new design. The Series 6 and 7 both had a major redesign and other changes made, and both share this design.

I have tested, used, and reviewed both shavers previously. Now it’s time to put them both head to head to compare similarities and differences –to find out which is best for certain users and buyers.

Tested, Used, and Reviewed

Both shavers were tested under various shaving conditions; this included three days of growth, two days of growth, shaving daily, and wet shaving.

Models – Versions Reviewed

A simple way of identifying these Series 6 and 7 models is the Series 6 is known as the SensoFlex, and the Series 7 is the 360˚ Flex range. The only difference within the same series will be the color, attachments, and accessories the shaver comes with and the country in which it is sold.

Braun Series 6 and 7 Similarities

The similarities between these shavers are significant. Actually, side by side, they look like the exact same shaver, and that’s because the fundamentals of these are exactly the same.

They share the same body design, including the rubberized grip and the same type of three shaving elements –cassette.

The shaving elements on these shavers include two foils on either side of a center cutter which move independently along the contours of the face. I could find no difference between the cassettes apart from the Series 7 has a chrome coated edge and the Series 6 is black.

They share 50 minutes of runtime after being fully charged for approximately one hour.

Both also have the technology to adapt to beard density.

The availability and types of attachments, the trimmer, and the CleanCare Center are the same. Buyers choose the option/model with the attachments and accessories they require.

Braun Series 6 and 7 Differences

The main design and features difference are found inside the shaver (possibly) and the head design.

The Series 7 head has a more flexible 360 degrees design than the Series 6. The Series 6 still offers some flexibility and moves back and forth with the various contours of the face, but less flexible than the Series 7.

While both shavers share 24’000 cutting actions per minute, Braun does not state if one motor is more powerful than the other. However, the Series 7 seems to have more power than the Series 6 after running both, feeling the vibrations, and listening to each of them, then shaving with both.

The LED indicators are much the same apart from the Series 7 battery charge indicator is a straight line that reduces, and the Series 6 has three dots that reduce after battery use.

The Braun Series 7 does have an extra small button under the main on/off button. This button, when pressed, indicates the battery charge and if the foil cassette needs replacing without switching the shaver on via the main button.

Braun Series 7 vs 6 Shaving Performance

When looking at the specs and the nearly identical design of these shavers it is hard to imagine if they can perform any differently, except maneuverability should be improved with the Series 7 because of the 360 degrees shaver head flexibility.

Anyway, I put both of these side by side and tested what pros and cons I could find.

Series 7

The Series 7 gave a quicker shave and cleared up any missed patches of hair much quicker. The Series 6 could get the same end result, but it just took more time and effort.

I did notice and appreciate the extra head flexibility the Series 7 provides. It was noticeable.

The Series 7 also had the edge over the Series 6 when shaving with three days of coarse growth, and it is likely to be better at picking up awkward flat-lying hairs.

I did not feel much difference with comfort while shaving. However, as the Series 7 required less shaving strokes there was obviously less friction on the skin which is a good thing.

So far, I’m going with the Series 7.

Price Comparison

When comparing shavers, price is at the top of importance for most of us.

Naturally, the Series 7, in this comparison going to cost more.

Series 6 SensoFlex – Costs beginning at around $85+ USD, £99+ UK, and €112+ EU

Series 7 Flex – Costs beginning at around $130+ USD (£150+ GBP – €178 + EU)

That’s a significant price difference for some buyers to be considered.

Final Thoughts – Which Shaver is Best?

The Braun Series 6 and 7 were quite easy comparisons, and the simple bottom line could be –only choose the Series 6 if you do not want to spend as much money.

While the Series 7 offers better head movement, shaves quicker, and deals with coarse hair much better, this may be less advantageous for a person who shaves daily or every other day and has fine hair.

If a person shaves every two or three days plus and has course hair, then I would guide them to the Series 7. However, if these gents need to save money, they would just need to use a little more effort and time while shaving if they bought the Series 6.
