King C Gillette Beard Oil Review – Light and Woodsy
Don’t let this name fool you, dear readers. This isn’t a product by some upstart company attempting to break into the market.
On no! Today we are taking a look at a long-standing and relatively respectful name in the men’s grooming industry. Yes sir! This Beard Oil (King C Gillette Beard Oil) is (apparently) the best a man can get! Gillette itself.
Let us see together if this shaving magnate can pull off a high-quality beard oil that you should spend your hard-earned dollar-doos on, or if this beard oil is something you should skip over in favor of something else from a more independent name.

King C Gillette Beard Oil Product Description
Gilette brings to the table a nice soft oil in a small glass bottle with a long eyedropper-like applicator.
At first glance, our label and bottle seem to give off the air of an independent company attempting to break into the market, or an older company that has been around and catering to men’s grooming for centuries.
However, I will say that is simply the power of marketing really. Gillette is certainly a mainstay when it comes to razors, shaving cream, and men’s grooming in general. Don’t be fooled, dear reader. If you are buying this you are supporting the corpos, not the upstarts.
That being said, I do like the color palette of the label and the rustic-looking logo. However, did they make the print so small I need a jeweler’s lens just to read the warning label?
Scent
King C Gillette has a very complex scent to it.
According to their website and Amazon page, they would describe it as floral with notes of geraniums, bergamot, and cedarwood.
I can smell those aromas, but I can also detect hints of a strong sandalwood base and a heavy peppermint note on the finish. This is a big positive because it leaves you feeling clean and fresh at the same time.
Overall it is delightful, but it definitely has a few notes that seem to have that “mature older man” smell to it. You aren’t going to smell like a grandpa, but you are certainly down the street from smelling like your grandpa.
Ingredients
The King C Gillette Beard Oil is just jammed full of some of the best ingredients for your skin. So much so it gets pretty much a perfect score from me.
I’m just going to list all the important here:
Argan Oil: Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant that treats oily skin and acne. Keeps skin nice, clean, and hydrated.
Jojoba Oil: I wrote a whole article about Jojoba oil, but to sum up Jojoba will soothe irritation and moisturize your skin.
Avocado Oil: Avocado treats irritated skin and keep it moist while also improving your skin health. It will soothe wrinkles and leave skin with a healthy glow.
Almond Oil: Along with some of the same benefits as the above ingredients, Sweet Almond Oil also cleanses the skin and repairs irritation from excessive exposure to the sun or wind.
Macadamia Seed Oil: Macadamia Seed Oil is a huge source of Vitamin E, which helps to repair skin by reducing wrinkles and scars. It helps to keep your skin youthful and healthy.
Primrose Oil: Evening Primrose helps to improve the skin’s elasticity and make your skin softer. This can make it more durable and less likely to scar or wrinkle.
Grapeseed Oil: An amazing source of anti-inflammatories as well as antimicrobials. This can reduce acne and irritation, as well as keep your skin from flaking.
Soybean Oil: Like Macadamia Seed Oil and Primrose Oil, soybean oil has collagens that improve the skin’s elasticity and offer a healthy glow to your skin as well.
Overall, the oil is basically one of the best things you can put on your skin.
Gillette claims the formula is “99 percent plant-based,” and after combing the ingredient list the only thing I can see that isn’t plant-based (other than the omnipresent microplastics in everything) is Tocopherol. Tocopherol is a Vitamin E supplement that can be synthesized in a lab but is more commonly found in nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils.
User Experience
Like with other reviews, I spent several weeks with this beard oil. I applied a few drops to my face every other day after my showers.
It took less than a few minutes to work this into my beard, but no time to work it into stubble.
I began to notice the benefits of the oil almost immediately, and it cleared up any and all beard-druff almost immediately. It also made my beard so much softer and easier to trim, which is good because we have a beard trimmer review coming soon, and I need to make sure to spend extra time on that one.
How is the Texture?
King C Gillette’s beard oil is very light. I would say it is almost too “watery” to be a beard oil.
However, the thin texture of the oil actually helps it out. It feels so much lighter than most other oils I have tried. This makes it so much easier to apply to both a full beard and stubble. The thinner texture allows it to work through the beard whiskers and down to the skin really easily. It also dries much faster without leaving any kind of oily residue on the skin.
It is somewhat of a double-edged sword, though.
Because it dries faster, you might need to use more to make sure your beard is covered. I know I had to use some extra drops to make sure all of your beard is nourished.
How Easy is it to Use?
Very easy!
After cleaning your face with soap or beard wash, just add some drops to your palm and work it into your beard.
I find it easier to do this right after a shower when my pores are open and my hair is clean, but you can also do this after just washing your face in the morning. Just make sure your face is clean before you apply any oil.
Overall, I didn’t really find a difference between using this with a beard or using it with stubble. I would recommend using it on both. The vitamins and oils in the product are just really good at promoting healthy hair growth for both 5 o’clock shadows and the grizzly adams amongst us.
Value For Money
Perfect Score here!
King C Gillette Beard Oil is really inexpensive! As of the time of writing, a 30 ml bottle on Amazon is just about $5 USD. This makes it the least expensive beard oil I have ever reviewed on this website. Maybe even the least expensive product I have reviewed!
This makes it an absolute steal, and I have no reservations about recommending this product.
Even if you don’t want to use Amazon, you can also find it at Walmart and Target as well. I know I personally would rather get something off a store shelf than order it online. Mostly because I am horribly impatient.
Common Consumer Complaints, Issues, and Reviews
Like many products, I have seen a great many positive reviews for this product. People really like to talk about what they love online. Seemingly more than people like to complain.
On the positive side of consumer reports, users are big fans of the scent and how it leaves their beards feeling clean and refreshed. Users have noted their facial hair feels softer as well, and itchiness and irritation are down as well.
Much like me, they also are really big fans of the price point. Being at such a reasonable price, there is no reason for people to actually not try this product. Many guys who would probably balk at $15 or $20 USD for something that is only going to last maybe 1 or 2 months don’t feel as upset if they just have to spend $5 USD for a quality product.
On the negative side, consumers mostly note they do NOT like the smell. Many find it too overpowering, but in my opinion, that is probably the most subjective complaint. Honestly, I find it lovely, but some call it dated. One person said it smelled like an 80s barbershop. However, I can’t really detect that.
Others have noted that the oil seems to be too thin for them. That is definitely a valid complaint if you are used to heavier oils that will last for a longer time. Again, somewhat subjective, but this complaint holds more weight for me. There is a real value in having heavier oil if you are looking for more protection for your skin.
Final Thoughts – Who is King C Gillette Beard Oil Really For?
Honestly, this is a product I believe everyone needs to give a shot. Mostly because of its price point. It is a solid product with some great ingredients that are great for your skin and your facial hair.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking to get into using beard oil, or someone who doesn’t want to spend so much money on their beard care routine. With the economy as it is now, I wouldn’t begrudge anyone looking for less expensive alternatives.
Beard care?! IN THIS ECONOMY?!
