HeadBlade Moto vs ATX – Which One Is Best?
The last razors that I used, tested, and reviewed were the HeadBlade Moto and HeadBlade ATX.
They both share a lot of similarities, and they’re fundamentally the same head razor; however, there are differences.
I have done a side-by-side with both the ATX and Moto to find out if any of the differences between these razors……, make a difference!
I had to find out if one was better than the other or rather, if one was more suitable for certain users than another.
Brief Description of the Headblade Moto and ATX
The Headblade razors, as we can guess by the brands’ name are dedicated head razors.
The Moto was introduced much later than the ATX. The ATX design represents an all-terrain off-road vehicle, and the Moto a MotoGP (racing motorbike).
I’ve tested and reviewed a bunch of electric head shavers which there are a lot more of on the market compared to dedicated head razors. HeadBlade is leading the head razor market.
The ATX and Moto are both razors that do not have a standard long handle for shaving. Instead, they have bodies that look just like children’s toy cars or motorbikes, which are held via a finger section and move with wheels or a roller ball.
They have the same type of blades as a cartridge razor with a number of blades (4 or 6) and a lubrication strip.
An ergonomically friendly design enables users to kind of roll the body of the razor across the various contours of the head easily, while also making it easier to shave the back of the head more conveniently than shaving with a standard razor handle.
The Differences
It does not take much to see the similarities between the ATX and Moto. They both have the same blade, blade mechanisms with adapters, and method of holding and using.
Roller Ball or Two Wheels
The Headblade ATX has two wheels and is known as an all-terrain razor. It looks like an all-terrain 4×4 vehicle, actually.
The Moto, on the other hand, has a roller ball that moves in multiple directions, whereas the ATX wheels mostly move backward and forward. The roller ball seems like it should be more advantageous because of its ability to move multidirectional.
Rigidity
The Moto razor head offers left-to-right movement while shaving, and alongside the roller ball enables the razor to move more freely. The ATX is more rigid and does not have the pivoting action like the Moto.
It should seem like a no-brainer that the Heablade Moto is better because of less rigidity, which may be the case for some users. However, for myself and other gents, we prefer the solid shaving backward and forward technique the ATX provides.
Ring Section
The finger ring section is larger on the Moto and has a slightly different design than the ATX.
I don’t see or feel much difference between the finger ring on both razors; however, men with larger fingers should be best suited for the HeadBlade Moto.
HeadBlade ATX vs Moto Shave Experience
The first razor I used was the Moto, and it took me a few shaves to get the hang of using it. Once I got familiar with the Moto and then the ATX, I found them both very efficient and useful dedicated head razors.
Which one was best?
The Headblade ATX is a better razor for me. I like the stability it provides and don’t feel I need the roller ball or the left and right action of the razor head that the Moto has. I have what I would think is a medium size finger and have no problems placing my finger inside either of the razors.
Final Thoughts – Which Razor is Best?
As you can see, I have a preference for the Headblade ATX. However, not all users will agree with or have the same experience as me.
If you have pretty big fingers then going for the Moto would make sense, as some guys have had issues with the finger ring section being small.
If you like the idea of less rigidity, then the Headblade Moto is likely the best choice.
There is no difference in costs. They both cost the same and use the same blades.
I enjoyed testing and using these razors, and if you are one of those guys looking for the next best head-shaving tool then I would just give anyone of them a shot.
