Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 Plus Review – A Nifty Groin Trimming Tool
The Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 Plus is the first in line from the range of Manscaped Lawn Mower models, with the 4.0 Pro and 5.0 Ultra following the 3.0 Plus.
The 3.0 Plus has proven to be a much better-than-expected tool for me and cleared up hair from my neck down to my crown jewels. It has been especially good at trimming all around the groin area, which it is primarily designed for.
It’s a nifty little tool!
I’m going to share what I like and don’t like so much about the design and features, as well as how well it has trimmed (chest, armpits, abdomen, groin, and crown jewels).
I am aiming to throw enough info and experience about the 3.0 Plus for you to decide if you want to give it a go.
Description & Features
The 3.0 comes under the groin and body category of trimmers from Manscaped, but once you get into the website and manual supplied, you know these guys were going for the balls (primarily).
In the 3.0 kit, I got the trimmer, two adjustable and attachable combs, a cleaning brush, a Type-C USB cord and plug, and a detailed mini manual to get us started.
Manscaped states:
*SkinSafe® technology does not guarantee cut protection.
I am glad to see these guys being honest, as many companies over-inflate what products can do (we all know the marketing hype well). That being said, no cuts or nicks from me thus far!
I know it’s only a user manual, but it’s a nice touch that Manscaped provides a detailed manual with illustrations.
That 90-day warranty period is not very generous, is it? 12 months would be about right!
Design, Build and Ergonomics
It’s the smallest-sized trimmer I have ever used, and I expected it to take half a day to trim large areas like the chest (that was not the case).
Build Quality & Ergonomics Ratings
The upper and lower end of the trimmer curves somewhat like a slight banana angle. I found it fits perfectly in the hand, and that shape enables me to kind of scoop at hair and get into those nooks and crannies (if that makes sense?).
The outer edge of the 3.0 has a matte finish, which provides ample grip. There are also embossed lines on both sides that help with improving grip.
It has a little weight to it for a small device and feels solid enough to me.
The LED spotlight, while being very simple, has proved to be great for me when shaving down below. Despite it being easy enough to shine a separate light down there, I never tend to get a light out to use, so having a built-in light is perfect.
The spotlight is activated and deactivated when pressing and holding the bottom section (a light icon under the power icon) of the power button for about three seconds.
Trimmer Blades
The trimmer blade is only 35mm (1.25in) wide, which makes it slimmer than many other non-groin-type trimmers. It makes sense that it is slimmer, so it can move around that mid-section of our bodies with ease.
Trimmer Blade & Combs Ratings
Manscaped states the blade has SkinSafe® Technology, and the inner blade is made from ceramic. The blade design and material used aim to reduce nicks and cuts, which I have to say seems to be the case in my experience.
The blade section is very easy to clip on and off. A thumb pushed against the top section of the blades removes them, and then they also slot back in easily enough.
Manscaped states:
We recommend replacing your blade regularly to keep it sharp for maximum performance.
On average, we see that changing out your blade every 3–6 months helps maintain peak hygiene and performance. Of course, your replacement cycle will depend on your frequency of use and your specific grooming needs.
I would use the above as a guide, but for myself, I would give the blades around 12 or 18 months while taking care of them in terms of cleaning and lubricating.
Trimmer Combs
We get two adjustable trimmer combs with the 3.0. One gives us sizes 2, 4, and 6mm, and the other 8, 10, and 12mm.
These combs slide onto the blade easily enough, and I found they slide into place for each required size without much effort.
I tried the combs out during a trim session, and using the 4mm alongside the trimmer without a comb was good for certain areas. The 4mm was good for my pubic area as that is the length I like (I also went over the pubic area with the trimmer and no comb after for testing purposes).
At least we have a choice of lengths if required!
Battery, Charging and Runtime
We get a 600mAh Li-Ion rechargeable battery, which is a good size for a small device, and it should provide up to 60 minutes of runtime.
I’ve used it to trim my groin, pubic area, and crown jewels twice and my chest and armpits once (approx. 40 minutes). It is now down to one bar on the LED (out of a total of three), so it will need charging back up pretty soon.
The indicator is useful and shows three segments indicating up to 100% with three segments lit up, up to 66% with two segments, and 33% or below with one segment.
I found it useful that the trimmer has a USB C-type cord with the adaptor, as I use a lot of C-type devices and have wires galore for it (if needed). I am glad they include the adaptor as well, as some companies seem to leave this out of the kits these days.
No complaints from me in this department!
Cleaning and Maintenance
I have already mentioned the replacement blades, so we won’t cover any more of that (see Trimmer Blades section above).
As the trimmer is 100% waterproof, it is washable. I removed the blade and cleaned it as advised by Manscaped under running warm water, then let it dry before reconnecting the blade to the trimmer.
I also add a couple of drops of clipper oil on the blades to keep them running smoothly and maintain them. Manscaped has not suggested this, but I do it!
Subscription Service
I want to mention the subscription service for new blades named Peak Hygiene Plan because users might subscribe to this without realizing it.
When you arrive on the Manscaped website, you’ll see two prices, and the first choice will be the cheaper option, which is with a subscription to pay for receiving replacement blades and another item every three months.
The problem many have encountered with other companies and reported to me (not Manscaped with me as yet) is this box is automatically ticked, so we must tick the non-subscription box. The good thing that might help buyers is we have to click the add to cart button which might bring to our attention that we are subscribing.
Really, they should have no box ticked or the non-subscription. Okay, they are not doing anything unlawful, and we should untick the box, but many customers don’t and just might not see it (do what is best for website users, not what keeps customers paying, I say).
Keep in mind, if you do subscribe, you’ll get the replacement blades at a slightly lower cost than the non-subscriber cost of $20 every quarter (around $80 a year). This cost is more than what the trimmer costs (yikes!!!).
Trimming Experiences
My expectations were low before using the Lawn Mower 3.0, as it just seemed too small, especially when needing to trim my chest, as it is a large area.
I’ve had so many poor experiences trimming and shaving the privates as well that I lacked any faith in a product working.
I went for it, though!
Chest and Abdomen
The chest was a breeze to trim, and while a wider trimmer blade would get the trim done faster, it did not take long at all.
A comfortable chest trim.
The abdomen’s softer hair than the chest and down below made it very easy to trim.

Armpits
As the armpits are a small area, I expected it to be a breeze to trim, and it was.
The useful curve-angled top and bottom sections helped me scoop the head on my armpits.
Armpits Trimming Ratings
Armpits are usually very easy, so what about the lower regions?
Groin, Pubic Area, and Family Jewels
The small blade area and the small body of the trimmer made it easy to maneuver around the groin area and between the scrotum and leg.
Groin, Pubic Area, and Family Jewels Trimming Ratings
The pubic area was easy enough to trim with a 4mm comb at first and then without a comb attached.
The best part of all is I was able to trim the scrotum without any nicks and cuts. I have had plenty of nicks previously down there with trimmers and shavers, so I was apprehensive at first but still gave it a shot.
I took my time trimming down there, and I had to make sure I was trimming against the grain (direction of growth). It took a little while to get it finished, which is normal as it is just about the most difficult area known to man to trim or shave.
The spotlight was super useful while trimming the gonads, and I could see exactly what I was trimming and what was left to trim.
The perfect tool and size for that area. Impressed I was, which is not like me for the ball’s area!
Value for Money
In the US, the 3.0 costs $70 at the moment. £70 in the UK and €80 in Europe.
Value for Money Ratings
It’s a bit pricey, but it does a great job, and I don’t yet have any alternative cheaper option I have used to compare it with that is as good.
The blade replacements cost around $20, £25, or €28, which is also a bit pricey. I’m fine with that price if I only replace them every 12 months, and I would most definitely not subscribe for replacements every three months.
Final Thoughts – Verdict (Worth Buying?)
The Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 Plus was a very pleasant surprise. It’s a great tool, especially for the groin, pubic, and family jewels areas.
I got along better with the 3.0 Plus trimming all areas than I did with the Philips Bodygroom 3000 Series, 5000 Series, and even the Bodygroom 7000 Series.
If I didn’t own this website and the ShavingAdvisor YouTube channel, I would stay with this tool and not need to try anything else for a good while (until it no longer worked).
However, as I do own ShavingAdvisor, I will be using, testing, and reviewing more trimmers that are suited for the balls, so look out for the links below for new reviews.
Next up, as it only makes sense, will be the Manscaped 4.0 Pro.
Do drop a comment below if there is anything I haven’t covered or if you have experience with the Lawn Mower 3.0 Plus you can share.
I’m on the lookout for one of these body grooming devices and your review really helped me. Have you tried any of the other Lawn Mower trimmers? I would love to see a comparison between them.
Thank you.
