Cremo Cedar Forest Beard Oil Review – Soothing Back Woods
Now that I am growing my beard back, rather than taking the chance to review shaving soaps I am sinking my teeth into a product that I have heard much about but rarely used: Beard Oil.
For my own part, I have not really had very good luck with beard oil in the past. Typically it just makes my face feel oily and slick, which is not a pleasurable experience, to say the least. I’ve always had a problem with acne, and the idea of adding oil to my face has always struck me as a terrible idea.
Cremo Cedar Forest Oil joined our beard oils recommendations you can check out here — 10 Best Beard Oils.
How I was surprised when I got the chance to use this particular beard oil (Cremo Revitalizing Cedar Forest Beard Oil). How does it stack up to other experiences? Read on and find out.

Cremo Cedar Forest Beard Oil Product Description
Honestly looking at this small amber bottle gives me all the feeling of one of those essential oils you get from the myriad pyramid schemes all over the internet.
You know the ones. The MLMs where someone you barely know attempts to tell you everything that is unhealthy about your life and how their cinnamon-scented snake oil will change everything.
This oil isn’t snake oil though. This stuff is much more useful and can help out anyone who is attempting to grow a healthy beard.
Scent
This beard oil smells incredibly intense at first, then almost immediately starts to soften once you apply it to your skin.
It has a refreshing, deep-wood smell. It starts with a deep mossy note, then moves through a strong cedar scent. Finally, it fishes off with a refreshing clean aroma that makes one think of a stream or river.
This scent may make some think of the winter, with the cedar aroma so front and present. However, for me, it hits the notes of summer. It makes me think of climbing through the brush to find the perfect fishing spot by the lake.
I can’t think of an aroma I would rather smell more when I am out and about.
Ingredients
A huge plus for this beard oil is the list of ingredients. Each one is actually pronounceable!
Looking at the label and the website we can see things like Coconut, Argan, and Jojoba. These natural ingredients are great for your skin and can keep your skin healthy while growing and maintaining thick facial hair. Healthy skin grows healthy hair.
The other ingredients (Cedar, Rosemary, and Spruce) are there mostly for the aroma and essential oil experience.
All in all, it is exactly what we are looking for in ingredient lists: short, informative, and understandable. I can tell what everything is and how everything works.
User Experience
I used this beard oil over the course of several weeks, applying it as part of my morning ablutions along with deodorant and brushing my teeth.
As a part of that, I used it with a full beard and with just stubble. The latter is because I wanted to see if the revitalizing effect would help to keep my skin healthy while attempting to grow a beard.
I can safely say without undo certainty that this beard oil has definitely improved the beard growing and maintaining process.
How is the Texture?
The biggest fear I always have when using any products on my face is how it will affect my pores. As I have noted, I have some serious issues with acne, and I have had it my entire life. Therefore any kind of oil I use on my face has a chance to cause serious breakouts. Especially if it is something with a heavy viscosity.
Lo and behold, this oil is very light and texture. It is soft and thin, leaving only enough of a film that allows the nutrients to carefully seep into your skin and then dry slowly.
It rinses off the fingers easily as well, so you don’t have to worry about having sticky fingers for a long time afterwards.
How Easy is it to Use?
Instructions for use are easy and simple. The bottle comes with an eyedropper, and you just drop a few drops into your palm. From there you spread it around and then massage it into your face.
The eyedropper makes it very easy to get the amount of oil you need and keeps you from accidentally overusing it if you were to pour it out.
I will say the instructions show you only need 2-3 drops, but I would wager you would need more like 4-5 drops. That or my face is just really fat.
Obviously, you want to make sure to apply this to your face after you’ve given it a good scrub. I would recommend after a good shower.
Use on Beard
Using beard oil directly on the beard is the normal option that most users will experience. In this, it obviously excels. The oil is just the right texture to smooth out the beard and treat the skin to help the hair grow.
With this beard oil, I was able to completely eliminate my beard’s arch enemy aka beard-druff. My skin was healthy and moist, without drying out and cracking.
Though, it took longer to make sure to massage the oil through the thick beard and into the skin.
Use on Stubble
Most beard oils are only good for beards, but on a lark, I decided to start using this on my stubble while growing my beard.
The amazing feeling of this beard oil was enough to solve another major problem I have when growing a beard: Ingrown hairs.
The natural ingredients help to keep your skin healthy and glowing so your hair can grow nice and thick. You may not see a change immediately, but you would be surprised about how easy it is for the hair to grow it.
It even gets rid of that awful itching feeling and makes the hair softer over time.
Value For Money
How much would you expect to pay for this? $20 USD? $30 USD?
What if I told you that Cremo sold this beard oil at $12 USD a jar? That’s a steal!
One jar of this oil, with 4-5 drops used a day or every other day is probably going to last you over a month, and at $12 dollars a jar that is a great deal.
That’s less than a Netflix subscription.
This really is a great deal, and something most beard growers should try.
Common Consumer Complaints, Issues, and Reviews
Most of the reviews for this product are far and away positive, with 5 stars all the way across the board.
Most rave about the aroma, and I am certainly on their side. I love the smell, as it brings back some very personal good memories. Though, if you aren’t a fan of the deep woods, you might what to go with another of their fragrances.
There are more than a few who have said the smell is off-putting or even not strong enough for their liking. One review I read said it smelled like stale tobacco. As a regular pipe smoker, I would have to ask what are they smoking that smells like this, but that is a different conversation.
Others are raving about the product’s ability to smooth out their beard hair and add some much-needed hydration to their hair follicles. The product not only works as advertised but also does it quickly.
The only other major complaint I saw was for some consumers who had an issue with the glass bottle cracking. Honestly, that just kind of happens with glass bottles. It might crack and spill or it might not. That is a problem with shipping that just kind of happens. Other than creating thicker bottles, there is not much Cremo can do about that.
Some also said straight up that the product did not work for them, and again that seems to be luck of the draw. Some people just don’t get the same benefits, and that’s okay. Other products may be what is best for them.
Final Thoughts – Who is the Cremo Cedar Forest Revitalizing Beard Oil for?
Overall, I really liked this beard oil. I think the texture is nice and smooth and the ingredients are healthy and promote a healthy beard. It has done a great job of keeping my beard from looking frizzy or getting all covered in skin flakes, and it has made my stubble itch go away.
I can see how the scent would be off-putting for some, and to them, I would recommend one of Cremo’s other scents: Bourbon & Oak, Birch & Silver Water, or even the Distiller’s Blend.
Cremo is a good company, and I would recommend this beard oil to anyone who is wanting to either add something new to their beard regimen or wants to dip their toes into the beard oil pool. At the low cost, it is something really easy to try out and just see if you like it.
