Every Man Jack Aged Bourbon Beard Oil Review – Smooth Finish and Sweet Aroma
“Wait a minute, James!” You might be saying right now. “Didn’t you review this beard oil already?”
I did (Every Man Jack Sandalwood Beard Oil), and I am glad you are paying attention. It’s one of the things I like about our readers. They keep us on our toes.
However, this new formula brings some interesting twists to the brand that we didn’t have before (as well as being Aged Bourbon in scent) rather than Sandalwood. New ingredients and an additional cap for the pump-top warrant a second look at Every Man Jack to see if it is still one of my favorites on the market (I am also up for trying different scents of the same beard oil).
Description and Features
When I got this beard oil to try, it was part of a five-piece gift pack that included the beard oil, a beard wash, a beard styling butter, a beard/face recovery lotion, and a nice beard comb (see next photo). You can find it all packaged up here at Amazon.

While I received it in the gift set, the bottle of beard oil – of course – is sold separately too.
I really like the addition of the plastic cap on the pump-top. It keeps the oil from spilling out when traveling with it. I frequently have that problem when traveling with beard products.
Ingredients
It is great to see the company provides a full list of ingredients on the website sales page and a list of the bottle, plus the box the bottle comes in. Not all companies are so clear!

This is where we are going to see the most change from my previous review of Every Man Jack.
It seems to me that the company has decided to concentrate on the good and cut out what was not really needed.
Let me highlight some of the good stuff in this oil:
- Safflower Seed Oil: Light oil that doesn’t cause any acne, moisturizes and strengthens hair.
- Olive Fruit Oil: Improves the look of skin and promotes healing from irritation.
- Flaxseed Oil: Anti-aging properties, anti-inflammatory, increases hydration from other sources.
- Shea Butter: Also anti-inflammatory, moisturizes the skin, and promotes the skin barrier.
- Borage Oil: A+ Moisturizer and manages acne.
- Argan Oil: Softens the hair and conditions it while protecting it from heat or cold.
- Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E): Antioxidant; helps protect the oils from degradation and can also moisturize the skin.
Official Ingredients List: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Fragrance/ Parfum, Linum Usitatissimum (Flax) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Linalool, Limonene, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol.
The ingredients in this blend are generally considered safe and beneficial, particularly the carrier oils. However, the most likely source of potential irritation or reactions comes from the Fragrance/Parfum and the individual scent components: Linalool, Limonene, Coumarin, Eugenol, and Geraniol. While essential oils provide natural fragrance and some benefits, these isolated components (even if naturally derived) are common fragrance allergens and sensitizers.
Scent
When you first open the beard oil and spread it on your fingers, you are very much hit with this sweet maple syrup aroma that immediately gives way to an intense bourbon scent. It feels like holding a glass of good blended bourbon up to your nose.
But the aroma doesn’t stay that way.
As it starts to fade, I get notes of juniper and cypress. I get the vibe of sitting around a campfire and sharing a bottle with friends. It has a relaxed outdoor feel.
The beard oil comes with other scent options, including Sandalwood, Vanilla & Cedar, Sea Salt, and Fragrance Free. If you like everything about this oil, but you are not sure about which fragrance to choose, or you are sensitive to fragrances, then the good news is the Fragrance Free option.
User Experience
For this beard oil, I have been using it for three weeks every other day to help soften my beard hair as well as improve the health of my skin.
Overall, the beard oil itself is light but intense. It isn’t going to clog your pores or make you feel like your skin is greasy and nasty. The latter part is very important for me as I hate the feeling of oil and grease on my face.
You will smell the scent of the aged bourbon and wood smoke all day. Luckily, it won’t rub off on anything unless you deliberately try.
My beard was the one to benefit the most from this experience. What is normally a stiff and scratchy beard became nice and smooth with a luster to it (that wasn’t just the gray hairs).
The hair was soft and rich, and my skin didn’t itch at all. I saw a disappearance of all beard-druff and irritation. Short or long, my beard hair feels more like soft hair and less like a wire brush.
Only had to use one pump to get the most out of it, even with my fat face.
The only issue I really had was that I was worried that if I were out in public, people would think I had been drinking.
Value For Money
As of the time of writing, the five-piece gift set is 30 USD on Amazon. If you would like to get just the beard oil itself, it is on Amazon for 10 USD.
On our pizza scale, that makes it 3 pizzas for the set and 1 pizza for the bottle itself.
10 dollars for a 1 fl oz (30 ml) bottle of beard oil is great. 10-12 is a great deal. 30 USD for the whole kit and caboodle? That is downright a steal. If you need to restock, then this is exactly what you need, and it won’t set you back.
There are also other bundles and multi-buy bottle options available. This is worth keeping in mind if you would like to try various scents, or other Every Man Jack products, and/or just stock up at a lower bulk buy cost for the beard oil scent or no scent of that you have previously given the thumbs up to.
One bottle (if you watch how much you use every time) is going to last you at least a month and probably up to three.
Final Thoughts – (Verdict – Who’s it For?)
Who is this for? EVERYONE!
I revise what I said before on a previous review, and I highly recommend this beard oil for all the guys who are looking for a lightweight, inexpensive option to improve the health of their beard.
If you already have a beard oil that you like, then I wouldn’t recommend dumping what you like just for a new thing to try. However, if you are looking for something new to try or just starting on your beard journey, then this is going to be a worthy and inexpensive pond to dip your toe in.
