Honest Amish comes to us with a nice-sized bottle that fits into the hand really easily. The bottle is thick and heavy-duty. Feels like it would take actual work to try and break this thing. It feels like a small beer bottle.

The dropper is glass as well rather than the normal plastic ones you get with most eye droppers. This is a good thing. No strange chemicals are going to leech into the oil over time.

The only thing that is plastic on this is the cap, and that is probably just for sanitary reasons.

While I wouldn’t recommend putting this through baggage handling without some extra padding, it should survive traveling in a hand-carrying bag quite well.

Scent

Here is where we hit our first stumbling block with this specific oil.

The smell is extremely sweet, overwhelmingly floral, and incredibly overpowering. One whiff of this stuff and it is like I walked into the natural foods aisle at my local grocery store.

It’s an overwhelming combination of citrus, clove, mint, and cinnamon that just kind of drowns out everything else. If you are using any other scents, there is a real chance this beard oil scent is going to clash.

Some people may like the scent. It is bright and invigorating, finding it a great “wake-up” scent if you are doing beard care in the morning. I personally do not. I find it too cloying. Each to their own.

Ingredients

It seems like I may be repeating myself, but this ingredient list is made up of all organic and natural ingredients. Nothing synthetic or fake here.

Ingredients: Extra Virgin Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Virgin Organic Argan Nut Oil, Golden Organic Jojoba Oil, Cedarwood Oil, Star Anise Oil, Clove Bud Oil, Grapefruit (Pink) Oil, Bulgarian Lavender Oil, Organic Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Organic Arvensis Peppermint Oil

There are also no animal products in the oil, so it is a perfect option for Vegan friends.

The only place where it isn’t friendly is if you happen to have a nut allergy. There are three different types of nuts in this beard oil. If you have any kind of nut allergy, or if you have anyone in your house who does, you might want to give this oil a pass.

User Experience

For this review, I spent two weeks working this beard oil into my skin and working it into my beard. I did this every other day, washing my face beforehand to make sure my skin was nice and prepared.

If you are using beard oil, make sure to only apply it to clean and exfoliated skin. Otherwise, there is a heightened chance of getting pimples and ingrown hairs.

How is the Texture?

This oil is nice and light when it comes to texture. It feels very smooth and soft against the skin and on the beard.

The light texture makes it really easy to work into the beard and the skin even if you have really thick hair.

However, this is a double-edged sword. The light texture makes it dry out quickly, possibly leaving you without enough oil to really get over your whole beard.

How Easy is it to Use?

The eyedropper this bottle comes with makes this oil very easy to apply. Just drop a few drops into your hand and then work it into the beard.

The eyedropper makes it easy to dial in just how much oil you want to use. So far I have yet to really overuse any. Three drops are just enough to make sure I get all the oil I need, unlike some other oils that take much more.

Use on Beard

This is where this beard oil really excels. The light texture makes it easy for working it in beneath the thick hair.

Heavier oil takes much more time to work into the beard fibers and get down to the skin.

For a guy like me, this is pretty good. I have always had an issue with beard itch and beard-druff. This oil manages to get into the skin easily even with a full beard.

Use on Stubble

The oil does not really excel with just stubble, though. Honestly, it doesn’t do much. The skin is healthier, and there is less of a chance you are going to get ingrown hairs, but really, it isn’t going to do much more than any other oil or balm.

Actually, it might do worse than some others. Clove oil is known to dry out the skin but is good for hair. So it might actually hurt your stubble rather than help it grow.

Value for Money

I will not lie to you; two full ounces of oil goes pretty far. At only $12-13 dollars US, this is a pretty good deal.

I would recommend this on the price alone. You can also find it on sale on most websites outside of Honest Amish’s own website.

Like the Cremo review from a few weeks ago, this only is a steal. However, at 2 oz for 12 USD, it’s an absolute theft!

Common Consumer Complaints, Issues, and User Reviews

This beard oil comes highly recommended and reviewed.

Many reviewers who have tried this oil often comment on its moisturizing quality. It is almost like using a conditioner for your beard. Beard hair dries out and wrinkles way too easily, and this stuff keeps your beard nice, smooth, and moist.

Heck, some of these reviews even talk about using it as a facial scrub after they have. Another review I read was from a woman who bought this for her husband. It ended up working so well, that she started using it in her own hair!

The few negative reviews I can find for this product generally bring up the scent. Most reviewers who comment on the smell, liken it to black licorice. I don’t smell that, but as noted above, I don’t like the smell either.

Others have noted the lack of preservatives in the oil. If you leave it unsealed for too long, it can go off or dry out on its own. I would definitely recommend that you keep the lid on tight to make sure that doesn’t happen. Also, don’t leave it too long. 12 USD is still 12 USD, and you don’t want to waste it (I mean, that is at least one pizza and a two-liter Coke!)

Final Thoughts – Who is Honest Amish Classic Beard Oil for?

If you need a good light beard oil for your heavy-duty beard, then this oil might be right up your alley!

This oil is great for anyone who is on a budget and doesn’t mind an anise smell when they put it on. The light texture will make it easy to get into your beard and give it just the luster and moisture it needs.

If you have a thinner beard, a permanent 5 o’clock shadow, or want something with a softer scent, I would pass on this one.
