Scotch Porter Moisturizing Beard Wash Review – A Clean Silky Finish

We are back today with another beard wash to review for you, our dear readers — Scotch Porter Beard Wash.
As we established before in our last review (Best Damn Beard Wash), a beard wash is the first step for…well, pretty much everything. I would say it was what you needed for a good shave, but upon reflection, having a clean face is necessary for life.
What is a big deal is making sure the soap you are using is top-notch and medicates your skin to make sure your beard is growing healthy without any flakes or ingrown hairs.
And while other beard washes talk the talk, Scotch Porter here also walks the walk while staying classy and healthy. All while making you look and feel classy as well.
Description and Features
From the outside, the Scotch Porter bottle has a very “no-frills” and simplistic design, with the logo and the nondescript bottle. It looks very sleek and professional, with no overblown graphics or design elements that detract from the product itself.
While I am not a fan of minimalism, I do appreciate that everything is communicated well and sensibly. Too many products on the market attempt to evoke a false sense of rustic design that seems to just get in the way of the product they are selling.
The bottle itself is small enough to easily fit in travel cases or on the rim of your sink/bathtub, but large enough to ensure you don’t lose it. The cap also requires more than just a small amount of pressure to open, making it less likely to open unexpectedly.
All this may seem superfluous, but it does speak toward an economy of design that is sorely lacking in some products.
Scent
The Scent of this beard wash is interesting, to say the least, and I do mean that in a very positive fashion.
The first note that hits the nose is very sweet, almost like honey. However, it is not cloyingly sweet. It hits just right to really open the nose. Then the scent mellows into a warm, floral fragrance with deep, musky base notes. Finally, it finishes very clean with a light, cotton-like vanilla scent that doesn’t linger.
The scent is enough to hit you and smell amazing without lingering long enough to overpower or interfere with any other scents you might be adding from beard oils or beard creams. Clashing is the worst, really.
Ingredients
Scotch Porter Beard Wash utilizes a Plant-Based set of ingredients, making it as natural as possible while appealing to an audience that is more discerning regarding Vegan and Cruelty-Free products.

While some guys may scoff at that whole concept, honestly, it is a brave stance to take, and I think it pays off for Scotch Porter with this Beard Wash.
In addition to the much-lauded Aloe Vera, it includes both nettle leaf and burdock root, which provide some serious doses of vitamins A, B, C, and D.
It also has fatty acids from coconut, which will actually strengthen your hair and make it that much more hardy.
I will say the ingredients list, as it is printed on the back of the bottle, leaves something to be desired. Less discerning guys are much more likely to put this back on the shelf when they read the laundry list of complex multi-syllable chemicals.
All the more important it is to do your research. Smartphones make everything better for that reason.
User Experience
For this review, I have been using Scotch Porter Beard Wash every time I shower for a good month and a half now.

I won’t lie to any of you, though; this stuff is my new go-to beard wash. I honestly love it, and it has made a drastic change in my appearance in many ways.
I used to have major issues with beard-druff, even when I was using other products, but this wash has honestly solved all of that problem.
My skin feels healthy, my beard hair is strong and lustrous, and it is honestly a joy to use.
How is the Texture?
It makes me think of something like honey or maple syrup. It is dark in color, so it is already evocative of those things, but the consistency is thick yet pourable. Very much like most shampoos, really.

When it lathers, the beard wash becomes very light and airy. It feels less like shampoo and more like shaving cream. This is a very good thing because it makes the wash very easy to work into your whiskers.
It rinses off clean and easy without any work, leaving behind little to no oil or residue at all. Some beard washes I’ve tried tend to leave behind a residue, and I definitely do not have that issue with the Scotch Porter.
How Easy is it to Use?
Simple and Straightforward.
You don’t need much, maybe a drop in your hand about the size of a dime, and you will have enough beard wash for your face. Just work it into your shower routine like shampooing your head, and you should be all good to go!

If you are like me and have a fat face, or more likely a thicker beard, then maybe a dollop that is slightly larger is necessary. However, you don’t need much. A small amount goes a long way with this stuff.
For obvious reasons, you don’t have to do this as part of a shower. I just find it easier that way. However, you could add this to any routine where you are washing your face on the regular and it would work just as well.
Value for Money?
Scotch Porter Beard Wash is not expensive at all, but it isn’t the least expensive option on the market. Honestly, you could probably find some lesser beard washes for much less than the $19 USD price tag on our friend here.
Is it worth it though? I would say definitely yes.
For around $20, you can have one of the better options on the market, and it will last you at least a month. Perhaps longer if you are willing to go more than two days without a shower.
I wouldn’t recommend that last part, though. Your friends and family will give you the ol’ stink eye.
Also, good news for readers who don’t want to pay shipping, you can find this in many brick-and-mortar retailers already!
Final Thoughts – (Verdict – Who’s it For?)
Everyone! Literally Everyone!
Enough Hyperbole, though. I believe everyone (minus those who might have allergic reactions to the ingredients) should really give this beard wash a try.
It feels great, it smells great, and it left my beard looking sharp and clean. I honestly cannot praise this beard wash enough, and I really want to share it with all my beard-growing, facial hair-sporting friends.
If you have the option to grab this off the shelf, or possibly grab it from Amazon with a gift card, I would highly recommend you give it a shot.
At worst, you tried a new product and it didn’t work out, but you supported a Black-Owned business and gave it a worthwhile shot.
However, if you are anything like me, you will have found a dependable product to stick with for the foreseeable future.
