SheaMoisture Beard Conditioning Oil – It Will Relax Your Beard Hair

SheaMoisture Beard Conditioning Oil is a delightful beard oil that is specially formulated for dense, coarse, and curly beards that need something gentle to help them relax and shine. It worked extremely well in conjunction with a gentle beard wash.

When your beard wash (or regular soap) washes away the grit and grime of the day, it often rinses away the necessary oils that keep your beard healthy. SheaMoisture Beard Conditioning Oil helps to replenish the oil and nutrients a beard needs.

Much like with the SheaMoisture Beard Wash, I had to put in some serious effort to find any downsides to this product. So if I sound like I am nitpicking when I get to my criticism, that is why.

I do love products that come in my favorite color. SheaMoisture Oil comes in a sturdy bottle made of recycled plastic. It is opaque, so you can’t see how much you have left.

The bottle’s top features a squeezable pump, allowing for easy use with one hand if needed.

The bottle comes with a plastic cap, which makes it very easy to travel with. You won’t accidentally squirt beard oil all over your luggage.

If you are traveling, then the amount is just right. One bottle is 3.2 ounces or 95 milliliters, which is just under the requirements for carrying this through a TSA Checkpoint at an American Airport.

Ingredients

It is packed with ingredients that are ideal for promoting beard and skin health.

To list a few: Maracuja Oil, Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Coconut Oil.

All of these are great for your hair and skin, but the company would like to bring two major ingredients to your attention: Maracuja Oil and Shea Butter.

All Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend)

Maracuja Oil, made from Passion Fruit, specifically strengthens the hair follicles and moisturizes the hair itself. This promotes a bright shine and conditions the hair to gently relax.

Maracuja Oil is also rich in fatty acids and vitamins that keep the skin moisturized, preventing dandruff and helping your hair stay in place.

Shea Butter does much the same, but it also promotes hair healing. Patchy areas can look thicker, and split ends are repaired. It also helps to reduce acne and ingrown hairs by maintaining healthy skin.

The oil also lacks Parabens and Mineral Oils. Normally, these are added to cosmetics to extend shelf life and provide additional volume. However, they can cause irritation and dryness in certain skin types. This is murder on a beard, especially one with coarse hair. Luckily, the lack of them means it is great for guys with sensitive or dry skin.

Scent

It has a very pleasant aroma, which is beneficial because it lingers for a while.

It begins with a natural, sweet scent reminiscent of honey, and then gradually blends into a soft, vanilla scent. It is delightful and unobtrusive.

However, the aroma itself does last for quite a long time. I will use this beard oil around 8 am and still be smelling it up to 12 hours later. If you enjoy the aroma, that’s great, but you may grow tired of it after a couple of hours.

I prefer aromas that don’t last as long, but if you enjoy it, you might like having it following you around all day.

User Experience

For this review, I used the oil every other day for two weeks after washing well with the matching high-quality beard wash from SheaMoisture

I didn’t use it every day because overuse can cause clogged pores.

I noticed a noticeable change in the shine of my beard and the overall health of my skin. I have all but defeated beard-dandruff, and even the grey parts of my beard look noticeably healthier.

How is the Texture?

SheaMoisture Beard Conditioning Oil is lightweight and has a bright shine. It readily clings to the skin and hair, without feeling sticky. You don’t need much to coat your chin, cheeks, and jaw.

It has a pale yellow color that is only visible when the light hits it at just the right angle. Once it has been worked into the skin, it leaves no additional color.

The oil dries quickly, though you can feel it throughout the drying process. If you have an issue with feeling oily on your skin, it might trigger that uncomfortable feeling.

How Easy is it to use?

The pump top is really nice and easy to use. Most of the beard oils I have used have an eyedropper design. That’s great for measuring out exactly how much you need, but eyedroppers can be awkward to use one-handed.

The pump makes it extremely easy to dispense a generous amount of beard oil, and it is also great for use with one hand.

The one issue I have is that you will need to dial in how much you want to use. You will need to adjust the amount you use to ensure a consistent spread over your beard. Once it is on your skin, it dries quickly. This includes your hands.

Therefore, it is both easy to use and complicated to use. Go figure.

Value for Money

For a beard oil, I would say it is a good value.

After about 2 weeks of use, I still have plenty of beard oil left over. If I had to estimate how long this would last me, I would wager at least a month.

For $10 USD, that is a great deal. That’s only one pizza out of my monthly budget. I think that is a great deal for a beard oil of this high quality, especially for sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts – (Verdict – Who’s it For?)

Overall, I highly recommend SheaMoisture Beard Conditioning Oil—not just for men with coarse beards and curly beards, but for anyone seeking a good alternative to their current product.

It isn’t too expensive, so it is pretty easy to grab a bottle on Amazon and give it a try for a few weeks. You might just find a great new item to add to your beard regimen, and at most, you’ll have lost around $10. I think that is a good trade-off.

If you have coarse and curly beard hair, as it was created for, then you need to try this. It is just what the doctor ordered for you and your facial hair.
