Every Man Jack Aged Bourbon Beard Wash Review – Refreshing Clean and Old Time Aroma
We’ve looked at a handful of Every Man Jack beard products, and whenever it comes up in the rotation for reviewing, I know I am looking at something I will most likely enjoy.
Every Man Jack offers us a nice-sized bottle of beard wash that also works as a face wash. It is also scented with aged bourbon and several other aromas (plus a non-scented version) that can make a complex bouquet.
I have noted in the past how much I enjoy the combo of face + beard wash. One of my Top Beard Wash Choices remains King C Gillette Beard and Face Wash, and I am always on the lookout for something to shake things up.
Let’s see if Every Man Jack has what it takes.
Description and Features

Everyone knows I love a good beard wash. At the risk of tipping my hand early, I am extremely pleased with this beard wash. It may even take the number one option, and definitely become my daily use.
The bottle itself is 6.7 ounces (or 200 ml) of solid plastic. It has a very small chance of cracking or breaking open. A+ for traveling, or if you are like me and use beard wash as part of your shower routine, you won’t have to worry about it breaking when it slips out of your soapy hands.
I do like how it fits in the hand. It can be easily used one-handed in the shower or at the sink.
The Pump top locks with a screw. If you look at the picture (below), you will see it has about ¼ of an inch worth of threads that screws the top in securely. It isn’t easy to lock it, but very easy to unlock it. It is secure and durable.

The wash comes out in a gel or jelly-like consistency. In fact, it looks more like hair gel rather than shampoo.

Scent
The aroma I purchased is called aged bourbon, but there are many levels to it.
It starts very sweet with a sugary maple aroma that makes me think of maple syrup, but then swiftly gives way to more complex scents. There is a heavy base note of wood smoke and cedar. You can feel the soft spice of juniper berries and dense cypress.
It is an intense aroma that hits you hard when you first open the bottle and squirt some on your hands. However, it fades very quickly. This is a good thing because it won’t clash with any other beard products you might want to use.
That is, if you aren’t using the beard oil, which is just going to double down on the bourbon and wood smoke.
Even if you don’t want the aged bourbon scent, you can get it with Sandalwood, Sea Salt, Vanilla & Cedar, and finally Unscented. Unscented is always a bonus for guys who might be sensitive to strong aromas, or if you have another beard/shaving product that has a scent. No one wants to clash.
Ingredients
When you look at the full list of ingredients, some large multi-syllabic words can seem intimidating. However, this is true for most cleansers. Many of these are naturally derived from plant sources.
Official Ingredients: Water/ Eau, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate, Sodium Methyl 2-Sulfolaurate, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil, Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress) Branch/Leaf Oil, Capryl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenethyl Alcohol, Fragrance/Parfum, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Hydroxide.
I do want to point out a few of these as being very good for your skin.
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder – This is a concentrated version of Aloe Vera. When you powder and freeze-dry Aloe leaves, you can actually make the Aloe healing properties much more potent. In this case, it acts as a hair conditioner and strengthening agent, and soothes skin irritation.
- Juniper Fruit Oil – This also soothes irritation, but also works as an antiseptic to keep acne and irritation down.
- Cypress Leaf Oil – Cypress will help prevent the dreaded beard-druff, as well as encourage blood circulation in your skin. It will also cut down on the amount of natural oil your skin is secreting, therefore preventing acne.
- Glycerin – A highly effective Humectant. It draws moisture into the skin and hair, helping to keep the beard and face hydrated.
For the vast majority of users, this product is safe and effective. However, when assessing safety for all skin types (especially sensitive skin), the most likely causes of irritation or allergic reactions are the Fragrance/Parfum and the Essential Oils (Juniper and Cypress). Lastly, the Surfactants (cleansing agents) could cause dryness or minor irritation if your skin is already very dry or highly reactive.
User Experience
For this review, I used this beard wash for about three weeks every few days. I don’t like to overuse any beard product, even when I am reviewing one, because strong chemicals can irritate the skin.
It doesn’t lather well until it hits the beard. Just be prepared not to start seeing suds until you start scrubbing your face. I would also recommend using your hands with this instead of a washcloth. Too much is left in the washcloth rather than on your face.
Overall, I am very impressed by this beard wash. It might be the best I have used for the year. It makes my face and beard feel so refreshed and ready for the day.
Feeling clean is like a small bit of nirvana for me, so making sure that my beard is lovely and clean is all I need to make sure I can conquer my day with confidence.
Value For Money
The beard wash currently costs around $15 (USD) for two 200ml bottles!
That is 1.5 pizzas for enough beard wash to last you at least 2 months, and maybe more if you pace it.
A single bottle is also available on the official website for around $10 (USD) plus postage, but the two-bottle deal on Amazon is better.
The only real downside of the beard wash, and it isn’t even really a downside. It is the only place that something like King C Gillette beats this beard wash out, and even then, it is barely.
King C Gillette, which would be the only option equally economic, but that is 10 USD for one bottle. 15 for two is an amazing deal.
This is an absolute steal!
As of right now on Amazon, the five-piece gift set is $30 (USD) for all five products together. Not too economical if you just want one or two of the five. It is also limited to two scents: Aged Bourbon and Sandalwood. However, if you require most of the bundle products and would make use of them, then it is a steal, and I got the Aged Bourbon set from Amazon here, with that pretty cool comb.

Final Thoughts – (Verdict – Who’s it For?)
With a price this inexpensive, I would honestly say that every guy who is looking to kick up his beard game should try this. Literally everyone.
If you aren’t using a beard wash, get this.
If you are currently looking for a new beard wash, get this.
If you are happy with your current beard wash, still give this a try. It is an inexpensive option to see if you like it.
Your beard will thank you for it.
If Aged Bourbon isn’t your thing, then the Sandalwood, Sea Salt, Vanilla & Cedar, or Unscented are options you might want to consider.
